Pearl Choker
A pearl choker is a 14-inch to 16-inch single strand of pearls worn snug around the neckline that lies on the collarbone or just below it. Unfortunately, the term pearl choker necklace is very often interchanged with the term pearl collar which is a 12-inch to 13-inch pearl necklace of three or more strands worn tightly around the middle of the neck. The choker and the pearl collar necklace are two completely different style necklaces; however, because of the rampant incorrect crossover use of the terms, merchants often display both terms to capture consumer interest. Like all pearl jewelry, the pearl choker can be made with freshwater or saltwater pearls of any shape, color, and size.
